About the event
The Asbury Park African-American Music Project presents a special Tuesdays at the Turf featuring the Dorian Parreott & Friends Jazz Ensemble. Born in 1935 in Asbury Park, Dorian’s music inspires music-lovers of all ages. In addition to his professional music career, Dorian served as the Band Director and Supervisor of Fine Arts at Asbury Park High School. While the Turf Club, the last standing music venue on Springwood Avenue, is under renovation, Tuesdays at the Turf is presented outdoors at the Blackbird (inside in inclement weather) and celebrates the stories of Springwood Avenue, the heart of Asbury Park’s African American community.
Each week features musical performances by different local and regional acts.
