The Turf Club Jam Live at the Blackbird

The Turf Club Jam Live at the Blackbird will feature musicians with Springwood Ave. music connections and will be MC’d by Gregg Bouie. Mr. Bouie (aka, Toogie) grew up in Asbury Park and his band “Toogie & the Gang” started around 1973 and played countless venues in Asbury Park but the Turf Club was their mainstay. Gregg MC’d AP-AMP’s Turf Jam in August 2022 and 2023, a throwback to his days DJing at the Turf Club. AP-AMP is committed to offering music in the Springwood Avenue neighborhood. Since AP-AMP cannot host this event at the Turf Club until renovations are complete, the Jam will be held at the Blackbird down the street from the Turf Club. he jams typically feature 5-8 artists such as local jazz favorite Mr. Vel Johnson, who recently created an original song “A Night at the Turf,” and Mr. Al Holmes, a local R&B favorite, both of whom played at the Turf back in the day and at the Tuesdays at the Turf series.
